The Olive tree is a symbol of fertility, peace, purification, strength and success. In Greek mythology and in the Bible, the olive tree has always been an important symbol. The myth tells that Aristeo, an important figure in Greek culture brought to Sardinia the necessary techniques to produce oil.

Olive oil is an integral part of the Mediterranean diet, dominant in  the South of Europe and alongside bread and wine has always been an important ingredient for many Sardinian recipes. As it contains vitamins and mainly unsaturated fat, it is considered very important for the health and it is one of the secrets of longevity of Sardinian people.

The whole island is rich of olive gardens, mostly grafted from millennium. Olive groves are located across the island especially in the areas of Alghero, Bosa, Montiferru, Oliena, Medio Campidano, Monte Linas and Parteolla.

Soil composition, mild climate, wind and sun orientation, make the Sardinian land suitable for the cultivation of olive trees. All over the island there are several oil milling with advanced equipment and sophisticated technology to extend the shelf life of its products.

Sardinian extra virgin olive oils have excelled in national and international competitions, winning prestigious awards.
